FAQs for Custom Prefinished Flooring

How does the “turnkey” process work?

The flooring company, which we consider a trade partner, sends us a photo or a web link, the footage needed, and the specs for what he/she is looking for.  We’ll get them a price estimate to do it.  If the estimate works for the contractor and customer then he/she would send us a sample of the color for us to match and we would return it and our sample for comparison and approval.

When ready to order, we would require a deposit.  We would keep the flooring company updated in the process and even arrange the delivery when it is complete.

Why should I use Whitewood Products?

You should consider us if we bring a winning combination of the following elements to you;

  • It is a better-made product or upgraded product.
  • It is a better finish on the wood.
  • Our trade partners are professional and knowledgeable in installing hardwood floors.
  • A color was tweaked to meet your request.
  • The service is better.
  • It costs less than another supplier.

Why is custom made better than using an existing product?

We can find better wood suppliers and apply better finishes. Consider two facts; manufacturers basically assemble or re-shape wood they buy on the open market and everyone uses the same handful of finish suppliers.

The value proposition of a custom made floor needs to meet a combination of the following elements: It’s a better-made product, it’s an upgraded product, it’s a better finish on the wood, the companies we sell to are the best in their market at installing hardwood floors, a color was tweaked to meet your requirement, the service is better, it costs less than most other suppliers.

Where can you access this service?

Call or email us, we’ll refer you to a local trade partner company that will price the whole job - product and installation.

Can I buy directly from Whitewood?

Flooring is an installed product. We offer our service to highly regarded flooring companies and we consider them trade partners.  Having grown up in this industry we hear way too many stories of jack-leg installers ruining floors and then disappearing.  We want a professional transaction for the end user with real face to face know-how and backup support from the company you select.

In fact, we suggest you get one of our trade partners to quote you a complete, professionally done project instead of buying from one seller then finding a local installer. You might be surprised at getting savings, a better product, and peace of mind knowing it is installed properly.

"cheap" is not always a deal

Where can I see Whitewood products samples?

We let our customers take the credit so you’ll have to ask them. We are more a trade secret and a service than a brand. Our customers do plenty of the flagship and renowned work in the US. That’s why you should use them.

Just bring a sample of what you want to one of our trade partners. Need a referral to one? Just call or email with the area you are looking for the work to be done.

How long does the quoting and sample process take?

It only takes a day or two to work up a quote and often include a few options.

We make the samples on our finish line - it is not hand finished/rushed. We want everyone to see as representative a piece(s) as possible. Samples from start to finish can take from 1 to 4 weeks.

Having suppliers send us the raw material to finish can take a week or longer to receive if we don’t have something similar from an older job and finish the material on our finish line. Once we have the raw wood to work with, we can usually make a sample with the requested finish within two weeks.

How long after the sample is approved until receipt of the order?

That depends on the raw wood supplier's manufacturing schedule. Whitewood can process the raw wood in under two weeks, but the wood manufacturer can take from days to three or four weeks to get the material to us.

*** currently, 2020-2021, lead times can be substantially longer than expected due to the lumber availability conditions***
